The department is headed by Dr. M. K. Elango. He had completed his B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Madras University, Chennai, M.E. degree in Power System Engineering at Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Annamalai University, Chidambaram and Ph.D. degree at Anna University in the years 1997, 2004 and 2012 respectively. He was a University First Rank Holder in his Master’s Degree. He has 21 years of teaching experience and research experience of 12 years. He is working in K. S. Rangasamy College of Technology from 1997 at different levels like Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor and Head. His research work focuses on “Efficient energy management system for Renewable energy sources” and “Intelligent controllers for Power Quality Analysis”. 03 Ph.D Scholars are doing their research under his supervision. He has supervised 15 PG scholars. He has guided 17 UG projects. He has published 12 international journal papers. He has established two research laboratories under AICTE-MODROB scheme. He is regularly submitting research proposals to various funding agencies like CSIR, DST and AICTE. He handled a sponsored project sanctioned by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology. He was selected as one of the Finalists for the “Best Techno Faculty Award” conducted by ICTACT a couple of times. He had attended 11 National and 15 International conferences, 18 workshops, 05 STC and 03 seminars. He had organized 05 workshops, 09 conferences and delivered more than 25 lectures. Under his leadership, the Outcome Based Education (OBE) has been successfully implemented in the department and the UG degree programme (B.E.-EEE) is accredited twice by the NBA (Latest is under TIER I Category) and PG Degree in Power Electronics and Drives once.
