One-day workshop on Advanced surveying (Total Station & GPS)

Mr.N.Sennappan, (Former Surveyor L&T, Presto Land Survey Institute - Salem) has been conducted practical session Total Station & GPS held on 30.03.2017 at Kanini karutharangam, KSRCT. The programme is aims at equipping the participant with the Total Station & GPS instrument for land surveying and demarcation. This program provided participants with real-time experience of a Survey project using Total Station equipment, which will help them build a stronghold on the subject and find new Civil Engineering career opportunities. This course is designed to prepare the students to handle sophisticated survey equipment and to execute large survey projects.

Zero Liquid Discharge (zld) for Indusrial Waste Water Management

Er.M.Sathiskumar, M.E.,(Industrial Safety), Green World Tech, Tirupur has inaugurated and effectively delivered keynotes on Zero Liquid Discharge for Industrial Waste Water held on 31-03-2017 at Cyberdome. ZLD technology includes pre-treatment and evaporation of the industrial effluent until the dissolved solids precipitate as cryst. Awareness on water scarcity problems that will be faced by many societies. Treat and recover valuable products from waste streams. This Programme contains Importance of ZLD, what is ZLD, Challenges in ZLD. To have the broad education necessary to have an understanding of contemporary issues and the interaction between sustainable and ethical engineering practice and global, social, economic, political, and environmental issues. To prevent fouling during the reverse osmosis process, ultrafiltration is often used to eliminate suspended solids. An efficient and well-designed ZLD treatment system should be able to: handle variations in waste contamination and flow, allow for required chemical volumes adjustments, recover around 95% of your liquid waste for reuse, treat and retrieve valuable byproducts from your waste (i.e. salts and brines), produce a dry, solid cake for disposal.Dr. D. Jegadeeswaran, M.E., Ph.D., Professor / Civil and Dr. N. Ramesh, M.E., Ph.D., Professor / Civil distribute the prizes for event winners and given vote of thanks at the final ceremony of the programme.

Workshop on health monitoring of structures

In association with ICI, Department of Civil Engineering had been conducted workshop on “Health monitoring of structures” on 31st March 2017. Dr.P.D.Araumairaj, M.E., Ph.D., Professor & Head, Department of Civil Engineering, Karunya Institute of Technology and sciences was the keynote speaker on the day workshop.

During the session, he elaborates the Health monitoring, Operational Evaluation, Data feature extraction and Statistical model development which in health monitoring of structures. Also explained worldwide monitoring projects going on trends.

Workshop on low cost housing

Department of Civil Engineering in association with Indian Concrete Institute together had been successfully conducted workshop on “Low cost Housing” on 31.02.2017 to enhance and create awareness among the young engineers to overcome the uneconomical buildings.                         Dr. R. Malathy, M.E., Ph.D., Professor and Head, Dean (Research), Department of Civil Engineering, Sona College of Technology was the guest and keynote speaker on the day low cost building workshop.
During the session the following salient features has been discussed.

  • Causes and consequences of rise in house prices
  • Inequality and housing
  • Growing density convergence and regional urbanization
  • Supply and demand
  • Some of the factors that affect the supply and demand of housing stock

Hands on training in Archicad (2d & 3d) for planning of Industrial structures

Er.S.Adhavan, B.Sc., (Agri), Centre Head, CADD Centre, Erode address the importance of Software to the final year student on 20-10-2016 at Kanini karutharagam, KSRCT. Training resources are made for ARCHICAD users, prospects and students with different level of knowledge and interest. Each volume includes a step-by-step PDF manual, narrated video clips and ARCHICAD project files for hands-on practice. Introduces to the principles of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and shows positive and productive ways of using ARCHICAD. It will equip us with the knowledge and confidence to use the program quickly and effectively. Given realistic economic, environmental, social, political, and ethical constraints, to be able to critically analyze and design equipment, structures, systems, or processes to meet society’s current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. The objective of this practice is to work with and to analyze the different correction techniques. Then, we will use the observations loaded in the previous practices in order to use them as input for the correction functions. Experts to ensure attendees have increased productivity and gain greater confidence with the software and associated workflows. Dr.N.Ramesh, Professor/Civil honouring the Chief guest Er.Adhavan with a memento.

Reverse osmosis and its application

In association with Students chapter of ICI-KSRCT, Civil Engineering Department had been organized Technical lecture on “Reverse Osmosis and its application” on 20.10.2016 in order to enhance the technical skills on reverse osmosis process and their application in field. Dr. R. Rajkumar, M.E., Ph.D., was the guest of honour on the day of workshop.

FIELD INVESTIGATION OF SOIL USING SPT & SCPT

KSRCT – Department of Civil Engineering had been organized a practical training on “Field Investigation on soil using SPT & SCPT” in association with Indian Concrete Institute on 20th October 2016.

Dr.E.Ravi, M.E., Ph.D., Professor and Head of the Department, Civil Engineering Vellalar College of Engineering and Technology, ERODE was the guest of honour and practical trainer on that day of programme to enhance elaborate knowledge in investigation of soil condition in field by using SPT & SCPT test which was conducted during practical training session.
